Star wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson has been ruled out from the T20I series against Sri Lanka due to his knee injury in the first T20I match while fielding. BCCI confirmed this news from the official Twitter handle with a post on Wednesday evening.
“He was taken for scans and a specialist opinion this afternoon in Mumbai by the BCCI Medical Team and has been advised rest and rehabilitation,” read a BCCI statement. “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jitesh Sharma as a replacement for Sanju Samson.”

Jitesh Sharma plays for Vidarbha in the domestic circuit and is a consistent performer in domestic matches. In 2016, he was the third-highest run scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His blistering knock of 44 off 34 against Delhi Capitals and 26 off 16 against Chennai Super Kings helped his team to clinch the match in the bag of his team.
