This Star Player Is Suspended By ICC But Is Going To Feature In IPL

Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasranga, who just took his retirement from test cricket, has been suspended by the ICC for the upcoming two-match test series against Bangladesh.

Wanindu Hasranga, who retired from test cricket previously, took his retirement and was part of the 17-member squad that was scheduled to play against Bangladesh for the two-match test series.

Ahead of the upcoming test series, the ICC has announced that all rounders have breached eight demerit points, which have been converted to four suspensions.

The ICC said on its website, “Hasaranga was found guilty of breaching article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to’showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match’.”

The incident happened in the 37th over of the match when the spinner snatched the cap from the umpire, ridiculing” the umpiring in the contest.

Icc further said, “He received a 50 percent fine and accumulated three demerit points for his offense. This brought his total demerit points to eight in a 24-month period.”

Hasranga was already handed five demerit points before that, due to which he was suspended for two t20s against Bangladesh.

The ICC further added, “Now, with the addition of the latest demerit points, he has breached the threshold of eight demerit points, which, pursuant to Article 7.6 of the Code, have been converted into four suspension points.”

“The four suspension points equate to a ban from two Tests or four ODIs or T20Is, whatever comes first—HHasaranga will therefore miss the two ICC World Test Championship Tests against Bangladesh.”

This could easily mean that Hasranga could be available for initial matches in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
