Delhi Capitals have retained 20 players for the upcoming edition of IPL, and now in the mini auction, they are searching for some effective players who will be game-changers for them in IPL 2023. DC have 19.45 crore left in the purse, and they can buy a maximum of five players, including two overseas players.
Speaking on this, Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan suggested Delhi Capitals to search for a backup of the Australian veteran batter David Warner and all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.
“They need to get a backup for David Warner. He is not getting younger. You need someone who can play that kind of role, be aggressive, and you need Mitchell Marsh’s replacement because Mitchell Marsh has had many injury issues,” said Pathan.
The former cricketer and commentator further added Delhi has enough cash. If you can buy an international all-rounder and a middle order who can give you a finish in the last overs, it will be more than enough, and DC will become the most solid side ever.
“You have 20 crores available, which means you can go and get a proper all-rounder who is there in the auction, a top-quality all-rounder from international cricket as well. Also, if they can get an experienced international middle-order batter who can finish the game, I feel this side will look very solid,” Irfan added.
Speaking on the same issues, former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra explained that Delhi Capitals don’t need a top-order batter so go with Ajinkya Rahane as a cheap backup.
However, Delhi Capitals have Rovman Powell as an overseas player who can hit a tremendous amount of six in the last overs and provide strength to a middle-order batting.
