Team India Register Record Win Against UAE, Emerging Player Shweta Played Another Blistering Knock

The Indian team continues their winning camping in the Under-19 Women’s World Cup 2023. India beat UAE by 122 runs in Benoni on January 16 in the second encounter. Earlier, the India team defeated South Africa by seven wickets in their first match of this prestigious tournament. The Indian team will face Scotland on January 19 in their last Group-D match.

Captain Shefali Verma and Vice-captain Shweta Sehrawat played blistering innings. Opener batter Shweta scored an unbeaten 74 runs off 49 balls with the help of 10 elegant boundaries. However, the skipper played innings of 78 runs off 34 runs with the help of 12 fours and 4 sixes. Both shared a partnership of 111 runs in 8.3 overs. Nandakumar broke this partnership by getting Shefali Verma caught out by Mahika Gaur.


After Shefali’s dismissal, there was an 89-run partnership between Shweta Sehrawat and Richa Ghosh, and she made 49 off 29 balls. Based on the blistering innings of these three batsmen, India scored 219 runs losing three wickets in 20 overs.

The pressure of the big target was visible on their batters, who could not score runs fast. UAE had a target of 220 runs to win but could only manage 97 runs in 20 overs, losing five wickets. Mahika Gaur contributed the highest 26, and Lavanya Keni contributed 24 runs. P. Chopra, Mannat Kashyap, Shabnam MD and T. Sadhu took one wicket each for India.
