Sunil Gavaskar Slammed Pakistani Skipper For Not Selecting “Hardik Pandya-like player” In the Playing XI

After a twin loss in the T 20 World Cup, the Pakistani team is now hanging at the second-last position on the table. The path to the semi-final is looking gloomy for Babar Azam & Co.

They lost their first match against India by 4 wickets and also lost their second encounter against Zimbabwe by just one run. Both the clashes of the Pakistani team were nail-biting encounters, and some minor fault of Green Army players led them to two consecutive losses. Cricket experts and fans are trolling Pakistani selectors and captain on their team selection.

This time Indian legend Sunil Gavaskar lashed out at Pakistani selectors for not selecting a good team for the T20 World Cup. He also slammed skipper Babar Azam for not picking up Mohmmad Wasim Jr. in the playing XI against India. He lauded Wasim as the “Hardik Pandya-like player.” It is better to pick an all-rounder in the XI rather than having two spinners in the Australian Soil. In the second match against Zimbabwe, Wasim’s performance was outstanding with the bowl. He took 4 wickets and scored 12 runs.

“They don’t have a very settled middle order. In the T20I matches they played before, Fakhar Zaman played at No.3 or 4. Now he is part of the squad, but not in the XI. Shan Masood is also there, although he is scoring runs. But I feel their selection hasn’t been good. For Australia’s conditions, if they had a bowler who could seam up like Mohammad Wasim did against Zimbabwe. And he also played a couple of good shots as well. He has that talent. Unke paas toh Hardik Pandya jaisa player hai (he’s like Hardik Pandya), he’s still new, but I’m just giving the idea that he can play those lofty shots and can give you a couple of overs as well. And they did not play him against India. They played two spinners. That is okay in Sydney, but at other venues, you need a player who can give you 3-4 overs and can score 30 runs in the last few overs,” Gavaskar said.

Pakistan will play their next match against the Netherlands on 30th October; hopefully, they will get their first win against the minnows team. And it will be interesting to see what will be their playing XI in further games.
