West Indies veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League and has been appointed as the next bowling coach of the CSK franchise. He will replace L Balaji in this role, who has taken a break from the next edition of the IPL due to some personal reasons.
Dwayne Bravo is the highest wicket-taker in the history of IPL as he has 183 wickets to his name from 161 matches and has scored 1560 runs.
After his retirement and becoming the new bowling coach, an exciting comment came from a West Indian all-rounder who stated that I would enjoy working with bowlers and was also excited about this role.
“I’m looking forward to this new journey because I see myself doing it after my playing days are over. I enjoy working with bowlers and it’s a role I’m excited about. From player to coach, I don’t think I have to adjust much because while I’m playing, I always work with bowlers and come up with plans and ideas on how to have that one step ahead of the batters. The only difference is I will no longer be standing at mid-on or mid-off. “I never thought I would be the leading wicket-taker in the history of IPL. But I’m happy to be a part of IPL history,” Bravo said.
Dwayne Bravo started his IPL career at Mumbai Indians for two seasons, then he moved to Chennai Super Kings and became a vital player for the CSK under the captaincy of Dhoni. Bravo was also part of CSK in all four winnings of the IPL title; however, he has won the purple cup twice.
After the Dwayne Bravo announcement, Chennai Super Kings CEO posted a comment congratulating him for his delightful IPL career.
“Congratulations to Dwayne Bravo on a tremendous career in the IPL. He has been a crucial member of the Super Kings family for more than a decade and we are excited to continue the association. Bravo’s vast experience will be of immense value to our players and support staff. We are confident that our bowling group will thrive under his guidance,” said Kasi Viswanathan, Chennai Super Kings CEO.
