Sri Lanka A’s side will head home halfway through Pakistan Shaheens’ current tour due to demonstrations taking place at Islamabad.
The PCB announced Tuesday that it has postponed for now the remaining two 50-overs matches between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka A matches after consulting the Lankan board.
The canceled matches were scheduled for Rawalpindi on Wednesday and Friday after Pakistan Shaheens defeated their hosts in the first game in Islamabad last Monday, winning it by 108 runs.
The PCB said the two boards would further deliberate on formalizing new dates for completing the series.
The party of former Pakistan captain and current prime minister Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, has been marching toward the capital city since Sunday. Unfortunately, fights and violent protests have been reported between law enforcement and protestors.
The Interior minister of the federation Mohsin Naqvi, who is also chairman of the PCB, had communicated that army has been called in to control the riots.
