Sri Lankan Star Player’s Decision To Make A Comeback In Test Matches, Set To Miss Initial IPL 2024 Games

Sri Lankan spin magician Wanindu Hasranga is all set to return to the longest format of the game in a two-match test series against Bangladesh. The series between the two sides is going to start on March 22.

Wanindu Hasranga shockingly announced his retirement from test cricket last year to focus more on white-ball cricket. Sri Lanka has announced a strong 17-member squad under the captaincy of Dhananjaya Dsilva.

As Wanindu Hasranga is part of the test set-up, he’s going to miss the initial matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

Wanindu announced his retirement in August last year, but with his comeback, Sri Lanka will be favorites to win the series against Bangladesh.
The Lankan Lions are yet to win a match in the 2023–25 cycle of the world test championship.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed Wanindu Hasranga for 1.5 crore and are all set to miss the services in the initial matches. He will be seen in action in Hyderabad’s clash against the Chennai Super Kings on April 5.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their IPL campaign on March 23 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.

Sri Lanka Test squad for the Bangladesh series: Dhananjaya De Silva (c), Kusal Mendis (vc), Dimuth Karunaratne, Nishan Madushka, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Kamindu Mendis, Lahiru Udara, Wanindu Hasaranga, Prabath Jayasuriya, Ramesh Mendis, Nishan Peiris, Kasun Rajitha, Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Chamika Gunasekara.
