The good old days are back for the Indian Premier League fans as Star Sports has once again included the services of Navjot Singh Sidhu, the ex-Indian cricketer renowned for his commentary prowess, for the upcoming season of IPL 2024.
After gaining fame for his witty one-liners and trademark ‘Khataak’ sound, Sidhu shifted gears into politics in 2004 after his successful career as a commentator. He aligned himself with the BJP and ran for office in the Amritsar constituency. Securing victory, he held the position until 2014, winning consecutive elections during his tenure.
Sidhu’s commentary career was momentarily overshadowed by his foray into politics. However, fulfilling the hopes of many, he has returned to the commentary box. Star Sports announced via a social media post, accompanied by a caption that quoted, “A wise man once said, ‘Hope is the biggest ‘tope’.”
