The left-handed batter from Sri Lanka, Lahiru Thirimanne has announced his retirement from the game. The 33 year batter was not a regular member of the team and he played his last Test match in 2022.
The retirement of the batsman just before the Asia Cup 2023 would not make any huge difference on Sri Lanka as he was not even playing in the ODIs for the team.
The batter announced his retirement on his official Instagram handle and wrote,”Absolute honor to have the opportunity to represent the country. Thanks a lot for the 13 years of amazing memories and well wishes thru out my journey. See you on the other side.”
The left-handed batter has played 44 Test, 127 ODIs and 26 T20I for Sri Lanka and once he used to be the member of Sri Lankan senior team before the retirement of Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Lasith Malinga etc.
