Indian Premier League is all set for the next season, and everyone has their eye on the upcoming mini-auction because the franchise will try to buy the best replacement for released players. Sunrise Hyderabad has released their skipper Kane Williamson this season, and now they are looking for his replacement.
The SRH had retained Black Caps skipper Kane Williamson in IPL 2022 for INR 14 crores. But this year, he was released by the orange army due to his vague performance in the IPL 2022. Now SRH will search for a new skipper and a batter in the middle order who can consistently fulfill batting duties in the upcoming season, and the orange army can rely on him as the captain.
Speaking on this, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan suggested the ideal replacement for Kane Williamson in the upcoming edition of the IPL. He claimed they would acquire former IPL premier opener batter Mayank Agarwal.
“SRH will go after Mayank Agarwal because they also need a kind of aggressive opener. They don’t have Kane Williamson right now, who led them for many years as an experienced player and used to open the innings. Mayank Agarwal is the kind of guy who has led a side and plays quite freely, fearless, and selflessly. They might be thinking of him going forward as a leader as well,” Pathan shared his thoughts.
The Punjab Kings released Mayank Agarwal and appointed Shikhar Dhawan as the new leader in the IPL 2023. Now other franchises will fight for the Mayank Agarwal in the mini auction, which is all set to be held on 23rd December 2023 in Kochi.
