Sourav Ganguly’s Perspective: Sarfaraz Khan’s Game in Test Cricket

Team India’s star batter, Sarfraz Khan, has been buzzing ever since the stalwart from Mumbai made his international debut against England in the ongoing five-match test series.

Sarfraz Khan was handed over his debut cap by India’s greatest match-winner, Anil Kumble. The star middle-order batter immediately made a mark by scoring two half-centuries on his test debut.

Sarfraz Khan earned a lot of praise from players and greats around the world for his impressive start to his international career. However, Sarfraz Khan received a noteworthy compliment from the prince of Bangal, Sourav Ganguly.

Ganguly was all praise for Sarfaraz Khan and said his game and playing style suit the longer format of the game. Sarfaraz has an excellent record in first-class cricket, scoring 4056 runs in 47 matches at an astonishing average of 68.74, smashing 14 hundreds and 13 half-centuries.

Speaking about Sarfraz Ganguly, he said,I think he’s more of a five-day player. His game is suited for that. T20 is a different format. And the number of runs he scored in domestic cricket, in the Ranji Trophy, and in first-class cricket has been phenomenal. And as they say, if you score runs, it doesn’t go to waste. And that’s exactly what’s happened to Sarfaraz.”.

Sarfaraz Khan scored a prolific 62 in his debut inning, becoming one of the Indians to smash the fastest 50 in test cricket as he scored his maiden half century in just 48 balls.

Both India and England will take on each other for the final match of the series starting on March 7, as India is currently leading the series 3-1.
