Sourav Ganguly Biopic Confirmed, Not Ranbir Kapoor But This Superstar To Play ‘Dada’

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up to portray the role of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in an upcoming biopic. Sushant Singh played the biopic of former Indian captain MS Dhoni and then Emraan Hashmi was seen as Mohammad Azharuddin. The buzz around cricket biopics continues with Ganguly’s life portrayal.

According to a report from Peeping Moon, Bollywood producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg are embarking on an ambitious project to create a biopic on Sourav Ganguly. The film will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, renowned for his work in films such as Udaan, Lootera, and Jubilee.

The source said,”Producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, who are producing this film under their Luv Films banner, have hit a six by bringing together Ayushmann Khurrana and Vikramaditya Motwane. Both have established themselves as formidable forces with an incredible body of work throughout the years.”

“Ayushmann, also a left-handed batsman like Ganguly, is a perfect fit for his biopic, while Motwane has already proven his mastery with films such as Udaan, Lootera, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, and Jubilee. Stakeholders are fired up and gung-ho about the kind of cinematic masterpiece they are set to create together. The film will officially be announced soon.”

Initial reports suggested that Ranbir Kapoor was chosen to portray Sourav Ganguly in the biopic, but Ayushmann Khurrana stepped in for the role. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is rumoured to make a cameo appearance in the movie. Despite considerations of other directors, including Aishwarya Rajinikanth, Vikramaditya Motwane emerged as the final director of the film.
