BCCI Announces Squad For First 2 Tests Against England, Ishan Kishan Dropped As New Wicket-keeper Makes An Entry

BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the first two Tests of the five-match Test series against England. The first game between both the team will be played on January 25 in Hyderabad.

As head coach Rahul Dravid said, the young Indian wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan is still out from the selection contention and in place of him the wicket-keeper batter from Uttarpradesh Dhruv Jurel has got the chance. The young cricketer recently played a match against South Africa A, representing India A where he played a crucial knock of 69 runs.

Apart from Jurel, the squad is already filled with other two wicket-keepers in the name of KS Bharat and KL Rahul. Now it will be interesting to see if the management gives the gloves to Rahul or they will go with a specific wicket-keeper. However, Jurel could also make his debut as KS Bharat has not impressed the management with the bat.

The star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is still not available for selection due to his ankle injury. He was ruled out from the South Africa Tests and he gave an update on his comeback.

Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah would be the two leading pacers along with Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan.

Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan.
