IPL, the world’s most competitive Twenty20 league, is just around the corner. However, the buzz related to the league has already started to set the internet on fire.
Before the IPL auction, Mumbai Indians almost shocked everyone with their decision to make Hardik Pandya the captain in place of Rohit Sharma. The Franchisee ended up losing millions of followers after the decision was made.
However, in a recent podcast, Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher explained the reason for the sudden decision change. Boucher called the decision a purely “cricketing one, “as the Franchisee wanted to free Rohit Sharma from the burden of captaincy.Mark Boucher said that team wanted to give Rohit Sharma, the batter, more freedom to express himself, as he has been consistently performing below par in the previous two seasons.
Boucher further stated that a lot of people don’t understand that. In India, people get quite emotional, but you know you take the emotions away from it. I think it’s just more of a cricketing decision that was made, and I do think it is going to bring the best out of Rohit as a person and as a player.
Rohit’s better half, Ritika, reacting to that podcast, wrote in the comment section, “So many things wrong with this…”
After this comment from Ritika, speculations have started to rise that everything is not good between Rohit Sharma and the Franchisee However, it is still to be seen how the rift between Rohit and management will affect the team’s performance in the upcoming IPL season.

Rohit Sharma, who is regarded as one of the most prolific captains of this league, will now play purely as a batter under Hardik’s captaincy in the upcoming IPL season.Hardik Pandya has had phenomenal success as a captain in the IPL, winning the title in the very first attempt and reaching the finals in the second one.
However, it still remains to be seen whether Hardik will be able to replicate his performance as captain with the Mumbai Indians.
