Shubman Gill hit his second consecutive century in IPL 2023. Gill scored an unbeaten 104 off 52 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore. With this defeat, RCB’s dream of reaching the playoffs in the 16th season of the T20 league was shattered.
Earlier, he had scored 101 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. With the help of Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 101 runs in the match, RCB scored 197 runs for 5 wickets while playing first. In reply, Gujarat Titans achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 19.1 overs.
This is the fourth century of Shubman Gill’s overall T20 career. At 23, he has become the first batsman in the world to score more than 50+ runs in T20s. He achieved this milestone 25 times in T20 cricket. Gill has left behind the Pakistani captain Babar Azam. Ahmed Shahzad and Babar Azam of Pakistan did this feat 25 times at the age of 24. Besides scoring a double century in ODIs, Gill scored a century in T20 Internationals.
Former Indian veteran Irfan Pathan wrote on social media on Shubman Gill’s blistering batting against RCB that this player will score 10,000 runs in IPL. The team of Gujarat Titans topped the point table for the second consecutive season. They won 10 out of 14 matches in the league round.
Besides Gujarat, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians have made the playoffs. On May 23, Titans will clash with CSK in Qualifier-1. And on May 24, the match between Mumbai and Lucknow will be played in the Eliminator.
