Shubman Gill all set to achieve this elusive milestone in International cricket

As the 4th Test against England starts on Wednesday at Old Trafford in Manchester, Shubman Gill is just 107 runs away from 6,000 international runs.

After a poor show at Lord’s, Gill would like to continue his good run in the series, especially after his 269 and 161 at Edgbaston.

Even with his recent low score at Lord’s, Gill is still leading the series with 607 runs in 6 innings, averaging 101.16 with a strike rate above 71. He has 3 centuries. His closest rivals, Rishabh Pant (425) and Jamie Smith (415) have not crossed 500 runs in the series.

Gill has 5853 runs in his international career so far, averaging 46.45, with 17 centuries and 25 fifties. His highest score is 269 in 141 innings. He needs 107 more to reach 6000.

In 35 Tests, Gill has shown great skill and some inconsistency, scoring 2500 runs at 41.66. 8 centuries and 7 fifties in 65 innings, with a high score of 269.

In 55 ODIs, Gill has 2775 runs, averaging 59.04 with a strike rate of 99.56. 8 centuries and 15 fifties, with a best score of 208, this is his strongest format.

In 21 T20Is, he has 578 runs at 30.42, with a century and 3 fifties. His strike rate in this format is 139.27.

Gill is also close to another record, currently held by his idol Virat Kohli. He needs 86 more runs to achieve the highest score by an Indian batsman in a South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (SENA) series. If he does, he will surpass Kohli’s 2014 tour of Australia where Kohli scored 692 runs in 4 Tests, averaging 86.50, with 4 centuries and a half-century in 8 innings.

Will he bounce back at Old Trafford?
