Star Indian batter Virat Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma have finally returned to the T20I side of the Indian National Team ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The event is set to happen in June and to be jointly hosted by the West Indies and USA.
Meanwhile, the former South African batter Jacques Kallis has given his opinion on the selection of Kohli and Rohit. He said that the two batters will definitely add value to the team with their experience but their addition is very much also dependent on the team plan.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been selected in the Indian squad for the current T20I series against Afghanistan. Kohli was absent from the opening match in Mohali for personal reasons, and Rohit faced a disappointing start with a duck. Prior to the Afghanistan series, these experienced batsmen last played for India in T20 cricket during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
Speaking to ANI, Kallis said,”I think there has to be a balance between the two. It depends on how you want to go in the tournament and what your game plans are. Experience has a big role for sure.”
Kallis also talked about the recently concluded India tour of South Africa where two sides gave their best in the multi-format series.
The legendary all-rounder said,”It is sad that it went that way. You want two quality sides to play on a good surface. A little disappointing but both sides had to play on that surface and India outplayed SA on a tough surface”
