Shikhar Dhawan makes a massive statement regarding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Tough times have never lasted for tough people. That is exactly how Shikhar Dhawan backs India to be able to fight for victory as the Test side led by Rohit Sharma prepares for a battle against Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India have not fully absorbed the shock of being whitewashed 0-3 previously at home by New Zealand which was the first of its kind in the history of this team and already the whole squad and their stars have faced all sorts of backlash.

Captain Rohit along with the key batsman Virat Kohli remained in the firing line after the dismal performance from the men in blue in the batting department.

In the 3 matches that have been played, Rohit scored a dismal 91 runs averaging an embarrassing 15.17 without a half century or century. Meanwhile, in the year of 2024, he scored just 588 runs from 11 matches at the average of 29.40.

Kohli wasn’t much better himself actually as he managed to score a disgraceful 93 runs averaging 15.50 despite the NZ series, while he had only scored 250 runs in six matches at 22.72 during the year 2024 season.

With all that happened, however, Dhawan is still of the opinion that the quality of experience these two possess shall ensure a threefold improvement in performance rather than just an improvement, and even allow for victories in Australia.

“I think we have a very good chance of achieving a hat-trick of wins-titles in Australia. hat-trick I mean for the last two series, we have been really good in that part of the world. I am positive that the team will travel to Australia with a winning attitude,” said Dhawan

‘Rohit, Virat, and even Bumrah have been to Australia a lot, and they will pass on their experience to the junior players

Dhawan also resonated with his conviction and faith in the young guns Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal as well and said that they will adjust to the setting well and flourish

“This new generation is self-assured, driven and ready to get their hands dirty. They have fast-tracked their way to global recognition, which is very good for us, dhawan reinstated Why? ‘Because I have no doubt that England will always pose an even bigger challenge with their fast bowlers. Our batsmen are however not new to this.’

In the Test series with New Zealand, India lost and slipped to the second position in the World Cup Test Championship (WTC) points table while Australia climbed to the first position. Now, in order for India to reach the final for the third time in a row, they must beat the Aussies with a score of 4-0 in order to advance on a self qualifying basis.

The long awaited Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia is about to start on November 22 at the first Test in Perth.
