Pakistan cricket has once again started to trend in the news headlines. There has been no permanent coach appointed to Pakistan’s team since the completion of the 2023 World Cup.
Mohammad Hafeez was appointed as a temporary coach for Pakistan’s tour of Australia and New Zealand. On the other hand, there are speculations about PCB, who is looking to appoint Shane Watson as the new head coach of the men’s cricket team.
According to various reports, Shane Watson demanded a huge sum of 2 million dollars from PCB as his fees. If Watson becomes Pakistan’s head coach in the future, this will be the highest ever fee paid by Pakistan cricket in history. Nevertheless, Watson has still not decided about becoming Pakistan’s head coach because he will have to spend most of his time in Pakistan, and his posts in multiple leagues as coach and commentator will also be comprised because of that.
A source said, “He has a young family in Australia and also has commitments in the USA Major League. So, he is weighing his options as the board wants him to spend maximum time in Pakistan, helping them also discover and groom talent at the domestic level.

“Shane Watson doesn’t have any experience coaching any international team but has impressed everyone with his coaching for the Quetta Gladiators. The franchise qualified for the first time in five years for the playoffs.
Apart from Shane Watson, Daren Sammy is another candidate who is in touch with PCB for the role. Sammy is currently head coach of the West Indies in limited overs.
