The 17th season of the IPL is all set to start in less than two weeks. The upcoming IPL season will start on March 22, with the Chennai Super Kings facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chepauk.
However, ahead of the upcoming IPL season, KKR are dealt a huge blow as their skipper, Shreyas Iyer, is all set to miss the initial matches of the IPL, as per the reports.
According to the latest buzz, Shreyas Iyer’s back injury has started to trouble the star batter once again after he played a staggering 95-run knock against Vidharbha in the Ranji Trophy final.
Iyer went for surgery for the back injury, but recent developments are all set to rule him out of the IPL, at least for the first few weeks.
A source, upon his interaction with Times of India, said, It is not looking good. It is the same back injury that has aggravated. It is unlikely he will take the field on Day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the initial matches of the IPL.”
The IPL is a very crucial tournament for Shreyas Iyer, unlike every other Indian player, as the players will be selected for the World Cup based on their IPL performances.
KKR will start their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.
