Scott Boland Returns To Melbourne Stars

After spending two seasons with the Hobart Hurricanes, Australian fast bowler Scott Boland is set to return to his original Big Bash League (BBL) club, the Melbourne Stars. Boland, who did not participate in the competition last season, has signed a three-year deal with the Stars, marking his return to familiar territory.

In other BBL news, Matthew Kuhnemann, who represented Australia in three Tests during their tour of India, has re-signed with the Brisbane Heat on a three-year contract, despite interest from other clubs.
Scott Boland became a cult hero in Melbourne after his memorable Test debut in December 2021. During the match against England at the MCG, Boland produced an outstanding performance, taking remarkable figures of 6 for 7 and earning the Player-of-the-Match award.

Despite this success, Boland’s BBL journey has seen ups and downs. Although he spent six seasons with the Melbourne Stars from 2013-14 to 2018-19, he was not a regular feature in the team, appearing in only 31 matches. 2019-20, he moved to the Hobart Hurricanes, playing 26 matches over two seasons. However, he did not feature in the BBL last summer due to his involvement in Australia’s Test matches.

The Melbourne Stars seized the opportunity to bring Boland back to their lineup, offering him a new contract for the upcoming BBL season. Boland expressed his enthusiasm for rejoining the Stars, wanting to be part of the tournament again and play in front of family and friends at the iconic MCG. Boland also acknowledged the passion of the Stars’ fans, hoping to contribute to the team’s success and assist them in their quest for their first BBL title.

“I can’t wait to be a part of the Big Bash again, and it’s great to be back at home with the Melbourne Stars in front of family and friends at the MCG. The Stars have the best fans in the league, and hopefully, I can be a part of some success and that elusive first BBL title.” Boland said.

Apart from securing Boland’s services, the Melbourne Stars are reportedly looking to bolster their squad further by adding Boland’s former Hurricanes teammate, Joel Paris, and a left-arm swing bowler from Western Australia, to their roster for the upcoming season. Additionally, it is understood that Nathan Coulter-Nile, a valuable contributor to the Stars in previous seasons, has re-signed for another year, providing the team with a boost.
