Sandeep Lamichhane Set To Join Nepal Team After Bail, Will Resume His career From This Series

Former Nepal’s captain Sandeep Lamichhane is all set to return to the cricket field. The batter was alleged of the rape and had been in custody for months before getting the approval to get back to the ground.

The former captain who is accused of rape has his suspension removed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Lamichhane is set to feature in Nepal’s next home tri-series against Namibia and Scotland in the Cricket World Cup League 2.

After being accused of raping a 17-year-old last year, former Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane found himself in heaps of problems. He played for the Jamaica Tallawahs team in the CPL when the CAN suspended him after an arrest warrant emerged publically on September 8. On October 6, the sacked cricketer entered the homeland again and was arrested.

So once he was granted bail in the ongoing case, the CAN lifted his suspension. Lamichhane is now available for the next home tri-series after the Patan High Court granted him bail but prohibited him from leaving the country. CAN general manager Britant Khanal has said that the leg spinner will not move to any other country for cricket at the moment and can only play in IPL.
