Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli? Saqlain Mushtaq Picks The Best Batter

Sachin Tendulkar was a prominent figure in Indian cricket in the past, while in the current era, Virat Kohli has been the most talked about and influential cricketer. The records and stats of both these batters have been extraordinary and it often happens when critics compare them based on their batting numbers.

Former Pakistani cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq has shared his opinion on the debate, and he believes that Sachin Tendulkar holds an advantage over Virat Kohli due to the high quality of bowlers that Tendulkar faced during his prime years.

Saqlain Mushtaq recently participated in a discussion regarding the comparisons between Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. Although many cricketers and experts feel that Kohli is a modern-day great, Mushtaq expressed his opinion that Tendulkar is still the biggest player in cricket history.

While having a conversation on Nadir Ali’s show, “If there is one batter – and it’s not just me, the whole world agrees – there is no one bigger than Sachin Tendulkar. If you have to give a copybook example of any shot, people give Sachin’s example. Virat Kohli is a legend of today’s era, but Sachin has faced extremely difficult bowlers.”

He further added, “The bowlers of that era were something different altogether. Has Kohli faced Wasim Akram? Has he faced Walsh, Ambrose, McGrath, Shane Warne, and Muralitharan? These were big names, and they were all very clever bowlers. They knew how to trap you. Today there are two types of bowlers—one that will stop you and another that will trap you. Those guys knew how to do both, especially trap batters.”
