SA vs IND, ODI Series: Not VVS Laxman, But This Player To Become India’s Head Coach In Rahul Dravid’s Absence

After the three-match T20I series against South Africa, India will now take on the same number of matches in an ODI series against the hosts. In a recent report, it has been known that head coach Rahul Dravid won’t be coaching the team in the ODI Series and the BCCI has already selected a name in place of the former Indian captain.

On this South Africa tour, many players have been shuffled in the different formats of the series and now the same could be seen in terms of coaching staff as well.

On previous occasions, former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman has frequently stepped in for Dravid when he was unavailable. However, this time, Laxman will not be taking on that role. It’s important to highlight that rather than coaching India in the ODI series, Dravid’s coaching team will be supervising the three-day match scheduled in Pretoria from December 20 to 22, leading up to the Test series.

For the three-game ODI series, the coaching responsibilities have been given to Sitanshu Kotak and the National Cricket Academy (NCA) staff. As per various reports, Ajay Ratra is set to take on the role of fielding coach, while Rajib Dutta, affiliated with the NCA, will hold the position of bowling coach during the ODI series.

Team India will look forward to delivering a strong performance in the upcoming matches after the T20I series which ended in a draw. The first game of the series played in Durban was washed out in the rain.
