India stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav spent a major portion of the 3rd T20I off the field due to an ankle injury he got while fielding against South Africa. The Indian captain twisted his ankle in the third over of South Africa’s 202-run chase at the New Wanderers Stadium on Thursday.
Suryakumar Yadav got this injury when he lost balance while throwing the ball after stopping a shot from Reeza Hendricks. This incident happened in the third over bowled by star Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj.
The batter was then carried off the field by the Indian support staff and physio due to the injury. Unfortunately, he did not make a return to the field. In Suryakumar Yadav’s absence, his deputy Ravindra Jadeja took charge and led India to an impressive victory over South Africa.
After the 106-run victory, Suryakumar Yadav talked about his injury during the post-match presentation.
The batter said, “I am good. I am walking, so good. Always a good feeling. When it comes to a winning cause, it makes me happier.” Suryakumar Yadav was also picked as the player of the match as well as the series for his stellar performance in two matches. In this three-match T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav got 156 runs in two matches whereas one match in Durban was abandoned due to rain.
Talking about the match, after losing the toss, India batted first and placed a total of 201 runs at the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav got 100 runs while young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 60 runs for the team.

While chasing the target South Africa kept on losing the wickets and they were bundled out on 95 runs in just 13.5 overs. David Miller scored a maximum of 35 runs for the team while Kuldeep Yadav from India grabbed five wickets and helped India to beat the host by 106 runs.
