SA vs IND 1st Test: South Africa Takes A Lead Of 11 Runs, Dean Elgar Smashed Hundred

South Africa has strengthened their position against India by the end of the second day of the first Test, thanks to Dean Elgar’s century. South Africa, batting until the stumps on the second day, scored 266 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 66 overs. Hosts has now a lead of 11 runs.

The game on the second day had to be concluded early due to poor light. India had been restricted to a score of 245 in 67.4 overs in their first innings.

Dean Elgar is playing his final international series for South Africa and scored the most runs for the team. He got an unbeaten century, scoring 140* runs off 211 balls with the help of 23 fours. Debutant David Bedingham scored a half-century with 56 runs off 87 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Bedingham and Elgar stitched a partnership of 131 (182) runs for the fourth wicket.

Tony de Zorzi contributed 28 runs (62 balls), and Elgar and de Zorzi had a partnership of 93 (153) runs for the second wicket. Marko Jansen remained unbeaten and scored 4 runs off 13 balls. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each for India, while Prasidh Krishna managed to take one wicket.

KL Rahul scored the most runs for India. He smashed a century and scored 101 runs off 137 balls with the help of 14 fours and 4 sixes. Virat Kohli contributed 38 runs (64 balls), and Shreyas Iyer played a knock of 31 runs (50 balls).
