The equation for Mumbai Indians management fans does not look balanced after they announced Hardik Pandya as the new skipper of the team before the IPL mini-auction 2024. It was a surprise for everyone that Hardik Pandya did not only join the team as the player but also got the skipper’s chair.
The bold decision has not been well-received by fans, who find it hard to believe that the captain who led them to all their titles was replaced. Rohit has maintained a silence on the entire matter and taking the lead of the Indian National Team.
However, Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh decided to address the matter when the head coach of Mumbai Indians Mark Boucher said that giving captaincy to Hardik Pandya is just a ‘cricketing’ decision.
We saw the window period to get Hardik back as a player. For me, it’s a transition phase. A lot of people don’t understand in India, people get quite emotional, but you know you take the emotions away from it. I think it’s just more of a cricketing decision that was made, and I do think it is going to bring the best out of Rohit as a person and as a player. Just let him go out and enjoy and score some good runs,” Boucher had said in an interaction with Smash Sports.
Ritika opted to express her views and she left a comment on Smash Sports’ Instagram post where Boucher justified the decision to remove Rohit Sharma as captain.
“So many things wrong with this…,” she commented.
The comment by Ritika has raised too many questions within the management of Mumbai Indians.
