In the latest development regarding the upcoming T20I World Cup, it has been known that Rohit Sharma is the original choice to captain Team India in the marquee event. The tournament is set to happen in June next year with the West Indies and the USA as co-hosts, the eagerly awaited T20 tournament has captured the attention of cricket enthusiasts.
As per a recent report from Dainik Jagran, it has been confirmed that Rohit Sharma maintains his position as India’s captain across all formats. Despite being removed from the Mumbai Indians on December 15, Rohit’s exemplary display of leadership during the ODI World Cup 2023 has solidified his selection as the preferred skipper for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
One of the BCCI officials has confirmed that there is no pressure on Rohit Sharma regarding the captaincy of the side. When asked about the chances of Hardik Pandya to captain in the upcoming T20I World Cup, BCCI officials denied the rumor.
The official also affirmed that Rohit Sharma is set to lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, despite not having played a T20I match since last November. This decision retains his captaincy for the next World Cup, even with Hardik Pandya being equally fit.
Recently Hardik Pandya has been traded from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians and the all-rounder has been announced as the skipper of the side replacing Rohit Sharma.
