‘Rohit Sharma is Selling Himself…’ Aakash Chopra Reaction On Hitman’s Batting Approach

Indian opening pair has been a problem for Indian team since T20 World Cup 2021. That is why everyone’s advising Virat Kohli should open in T20 World Cup 2022. As we had already seen in Asia Cup 2022 matches, the opening pair never gave a good start. This problem was seen in the first T20 match against Australia in Mohali, as well. KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma came to open, but in order of scoring too much runs in power plays, yet again, captain Rohit Sharma thrown his wickets quite early.

After seeing the performance of the Indian skipper, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra criticised Rohit Sharma for his ultra-attacking tactics, in the early overs. Men in blue brilliantly won some overseas and home series this year. But in Asia Cup 2022, they showed third-class performance and never scored a good total for their opponent.

After watching the performance of Rohit Sharma in the first match against Australia in Mohali, Aakash Chopra said, “I don’t like Rohit Sharma’s ultra-attacking approach. He is selling himself short. If he bats for 40 balls, he will surely score 75 runs. But is he giving himself that opportunity to bat that long? He is a special player and needs to take some time to get himself in”.

As an opener, Hitman scored 434 runs at an average of 25.52 in 18 T20Is this year. His performance was also not good in IPL 2022 season, and he scored 264 runs in 14 matches at an average of 19.14. T20 format is Rohit’s favorite format, but he has only scored two fifty this year.

Aakash Chopra praised KL Rahul as a skillful player with plenty of shots. He said, “KL Rahul showed that the only player who could stop him is himself. He is an incredibly skillful batter, and those two flick shots for six over the leg side were just unbelievable”. Meanwhile, KL Rahul disappointed everyone in Asia Cup 2022. But, he returned in form and scored 55 runs in yesterday match against Kangaroos. It will be fascinating to see whether he will maintain his performance in the next match or not.
