Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes that the decision regarding Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup squad should be made when the tournament comes closer.
There is still uncertainty about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in India’s T20 plans. The veteran pair has been rested for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against South Africa, with their participation limited to the two-match Test series after the white-ball series of the tour.
While having a conversation with Star Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar talks about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future regarding the upcoming T20 World Cup happening in the USA and West Indies.
“Who knows what’s in store in life? I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. I believe the approach should be extremely simple. We have played a lot of World Cups and haven’t been able to win them.”
The former batter further added, “We are maybe playing slightly different cricket in the final stages of World Cups. When something goes out of your hand, simplify it. Pick your team based on form close to the World Cup.”

Indian Cricket team has yet to win an ICC event since 2013, then they won the ICC Champions Trophy under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In the four T20 World Cups conducted since then, they faced defeats twice in the semi-finals, once in the final, and experienced a setback in 2021 by not making it into the knockout stages.
