Robin Uthappa Marks The Biggest Problem For MS Dhoni In IPL 2024

Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa has given a huge statement on the skipper of Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni. He said wicket-keeping could pose a challenge for Dhoni in IPL 2024. The defending champions CSK are set to kick off their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.

At the age of 42, MS Dhoni will once again take the helm of Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 season of the IPL. With five tournament victories under his belt with the Chennai-based franchise, Dhoni’s leadership has been instrumental in CSK’s success. In the 2023 season, he guided CSK to victory, defeating Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans by five wickets.

In an interview with JioCinema, Robin Uthappa expressed confidence that batting will never be a concern for Dhoni. He added that CSK would continue to include Dhoni in the playing XI even if he had to play from a wheelchair. Dhoni’s impressive IPL record speaks volumes, with 5,082 runs scored in 250 matches, maintaining an average of 38.79 and a strike rate of 135.92.

“CSK would let him play even if he was in a wheelchair! Get off the wheelchair, bat, and then go back. But I don’t think the batting is the issue for him, I don’t think batting will ever be an issue for him,” said Uthappa.

He further added, “I think it’s the wicketkeeping. The knees are getting worn out and he loves keeping. So, because he won’t be able to stand there and add value, he’ll probably move on from the game than for any other reason.”
