Rishabh Pant Will Play In Entire IPL 2024 Or Not? Head Coach Ricky Ponting Gives a Huge Update

Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting provided information regarding the comeback of Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The tournament is expected to take place at the end of the march.

Rishabh Pant was absent throughout IPL 2023 due to injuries sustained in a car crash on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway on January 1, 2023. The 25-year-old has been out of action for over a year and is aiming for a return to competitive cricket. Pant has regularly shared updates on his recovery process through his social media platforms.

While speaking to the media in Melbourne, after being named the head coach of the Washington Freedom franchise in the Major Cricket League (MLC), Ricky Ponting mentioned that Rishabh Pant is optimistic about his comeback in IPL 2024. However, it is still unknown whether Pant will take wicket-keeper duties or not.

The head coach of Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting said, “Rishabh is very confident that he’s going to be right to play. In what capacity we’re not quite sure yet. You would have seen all the social media stuff, he’s up and about and running well.”

“But in saying that we’re only six weeks away from the first game as well. So we’re not sure if we’ll get wicketkeeping out of him this year,” Ponting said.

Rishabh Pant was seen alongside Ricky Ponting and the Delhi Capitals management during the IPL 2024 mini-auction in Dubai. He helped the management in getting the targeted players. This marked his first public appearance since the car accident. However, before that, the wicket-keeper batter was seen during a match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans at Arun Jaitley Stadium during IPL 2023 to support his team.
