Rishabh Pant To Make Comeback As Wicket-Batter In IPL, These Two Indian Pacers Ruled Out Of Tournament

The star batter of team India Rishabh Pant has received official approval for his fitness from the BCCI. After a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation and recovery period, he is set to make his comeback to competitive cricket in the IPL 2024, which is set to begin on March 22.

After a car accident near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on December 30th, 2022, Rishabh Pant sustained severe injuries. Subsequently, he underwent surgeries in Mumbai and initiated his recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

“Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024,” BCCI said in an official statement on Tuesday.

After his last appearance for India in December 2022 during the Bangladesh tour, Rishabh Pant missed several significant tournaments due to the tragic car accident. These included the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held at home, IPL 2023, ICC World Test Championship Final, Asia Cup 2023, and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

On another note, fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna have been ruled out from the upcoming IPL season due to their respective injuries. Shami underwent surgery for his right heel problem last month. Currently, he is under the observation of the BCCI medical team.
