Breaking Boundaries: Alex Carey Surpasses Rishabh Pant’s Record

The mighty Australians continued their dominance over the Blackcaps as they thumped the hosts in their own backyard. The Australians chased down the target of 274 even after being reduced to 80/5 at one stage.

The man of the moment for Australia was their wicketkeeper-batsman, Alex Carrey, who scored 98* to beat New Zealand, helping Australia beat the Blackcaps by 2-0.

In his knock of 98, the wicketkeeper batter scored 15 boundaries. This score is now the second-highest individual score by a wicketkeeper in the fourth inning of a test match.

Adam Gilchrist, who scored 149* against Pakistan way back in November 1999, is at the top of the list. On the other hand, Carrey went past Rishabh Pant, who scored 89* against Australia in India’s famous victory at the Gabba.

This knock came at a perfect time for Alex Carrey, who was struggling to contribute with the bat for Australia in recent times. This knock from Carrey would make him a contender for the wicketkeeping slot when Australia faces India in a five-match test series later this year.
