Reports: RCB Signs This South African T20 Veteran As The Replacement Or Reece Topley

According to the latest report, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have signed the South African bowling all-rounder Wayne Parnell as a replacement for Reece Topley who has been ruled out from the ongoing Indian Premier League due to an injury.

However, there has been no official confirmation from RCB regarding the signing of Parnell.

During the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders match played at Eden Gardens, the head coach of RCB Sanjay Bangar said that Topley would not be playing but the management is trying to keep him and retain him for the team.

Parnell is a T20 veteran who made his international debut in 2009. Parnell has so far played 56 matches in which he has claimed 59 wickets at a strike rate of 18.5 and an economy of 8.29.

Topley dislocated his shoulder during the first home game of the Royal Challengers Bangalore against the Mumbai Indians at Chinnaswamy.

RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar talked about this during the match against KKR and said,”Topley has been ruled out of the IPL and has flown back home. His replacement will be named soon.”

He further said,”We tried our best to keep him here, but the treatment and the experts suggest that he is going to be out of action for some time.”

Bangar also informed that the star spinner from Sri Lanka Wanindu Hasaranga is likely to join the team on April 10th. Additionally, Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who missed the Test series in India due to an injury, is anticipated to join the squad on April 14th.

“Hasaranga will arrive for us on the 10th, so depending on the time of his arrival and how he copes with the long flight from New Zealand is something we’ll have to think about. But in the meantime, Karn Sharma has taken his chances really well, so that’s another headache for us – but it’s a good headache.”
