Reports: Rahul Dravid Likely To Be Mentor Of LSG In IPL 2024

The cricketing world is abuzz with speculations as reports suggest that Rahul Dravid, the former Indian captain and head coach, is in talks with IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a potential role as their mentor in the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

The discussions between Rahul Dravid and Lucknow Super Giants could mark a significant development in the dynamics of the IPL coaching staff. If the negotiations materialize, Dravid could step into the mentor role for LSG, bringing his wealth of cricketing knowledge and experience to the franchise.

Rahul Dravid’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian cricket team officially concluded with the culmination of the ODI World Cup.

While India, under Dravid, didn’t secure an ICC trophy, their performances in bilateral series were commendable. Currently ranked as the No.1 team in all three formats, India’s stellar run of 10 consecutive victories in the World Cup showcased their dominance despite falling short in the final against Australia.

Reports suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to engage in a meeting with Rahul Dravid to discuss his plans. However, it seems unlikely that Dravid will seek an extension due to personal reasons.

Lucknow Super Giants have long harboured an interest in having Rahul Dravid as part of their support staff. However, Dravid’s commitment to Team India prevented this association. Now, with the possibility of him not continuing as India’s head coach, LSG sees an opportunity to strike a deal with the cricketing legend.

The departure of Gautam Gambhir, who served as LSG’s mentor for the past two years, has left a void in the mentor position. Dravid’s potential move to LSG could fill this vacancy, bringing his strategic insights and mentorship to the team.

LSG has already changed their coaching staff, parting ways with head coach Andy Flower. Justin Langer is set to take charge of the team in the upcoming season, and if negotiations with Dravid proceed positively, Langer could benefit from Dravid’s mentorship.

Apart from LSG, Rahul Dravid is reportedly in talks with Rajasthan Royals, a franchise he has a longstanding association with as a player and captain. The multiple discussions indicate Dravid’s attractiveness as a coaching figure in the IPL.

As per reports, Lucknow Super Giants currently appear to be the frontrunners to appoint Rahul Dravid as their mentor. The negotiations, if successful, could see Dravid contributing to LSG’s cricketing strategy and player development in the upcoming IPL season.
