Ajit Agarkar’s lead selection committee is inching closer to announcing India’s squad for the remaining three test matches against England. Doubts have risen over Virat Kohli’s availability for the upcoming test matches.
Virat Kohli made himself unavailable for the first two test matches to take a break from international cricket for personal reasons.
While the first two test matches of the series are officially over and the series is on the line at 1-1, Virat still has not communicated with BCCI about his availability for the upcoming test matches.
A source close to BCCI was quoted saying that “it’s entirely up to Virat Kohli to decide that when he is available for selection, he will be included in the team whenever he makes himself available.”
It’s still not clear what kind of personal reason made Virat pull out of the test matches against England. On the other hand, his former RCB teammate Ab Devilliers told his YouTube channel that both Virat and Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child.
While there were doubts over the return of both KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, who missed the second test of the series due to injuries, they have shown great signs of recovery and are all set to return to the set-up.
On the other hand, team India’s vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah’s decision to take a rest from any of the three matches remains entirely in his hands.
The third test match of the series will start on February 15 in Rajkot.
