The national selection committee is not expected to include any new IPL players in the upcoming T20 World Cup set to happen in the USA and West Indies. However, a few experienced players may face disappointment when the squad is finalized by the end of this month.
The ICC’s requirement to announce the provisional 15-member squad by May 1 has made the selection process more straightforward for Ajit Agarkar and his mates.
A BCCI source talking to PTI said, “There would not be any experimentation or left-field selections. All those who have played for India and have done well consistently in T20 Internationals and the IPL will be rewarded,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.”
It’s expected that either Shubman Gill or Yashasvi Jaiswal might not make it to the final team. However, if both of them are chosen in the final 15, then only one of the two finishers, either Rinku Singh from Kolkata Knight Riders or Shivam Dube from Chennai Super Kings will be picked for the marquee event.
