The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has requested suggestions for ticket pricing from all the associations hosting games during the 2023 World Cup. The plan is to launch online ticket sales by August 10, alongside making any necessary changes to the event’s schedule. The organizing committee discussed the matter to ensure a smooth process.
Earlier, Jay Shah, the honorable secretary of the BCCI, had stated that the scheduling issue would be resolved within three to four days. Three full member nations had written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) requesting modifications to the schedule.
The requested changes involve adjusting the dates and timings of matches to reduce the gap between games. The aim is to minimize six-day gaps between matches to 4-5 days. The BCCI is working in consultation with the ICC to finalize these changes.
“Three members have written to the ICC for a schedule change. Only the dates and timings will be changed, and venues will not be changed. If there is a six-day gap between games, we try to reduce it to 4-5 days. The picture will be clear in three-four days. Changes will happen in consultation with the ICC,” Shah said.
Regarding the highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan, scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Jay Shah mentioned that a decision on its rescheduling would be taken based on the discussions with the ICC. He also reassured that there are no security concerns for the high-profile match.
Shah said, “As I have said, a few member boards have written to the ICC, and a decision will be taken soon.”
