Importantly, Hafeez clarified that his motivation does not stem from monetary gains but from a genuine desire to contribute to Pakistan cricket’s progress. He recognized Zaka Ashraf as a respected administrator and appreciated the offers made to him during their meeting.
However, if Hafeez assumes one of the offered positions, he will face challenges, particularly with the upcoming World Cup and the ongoing turmoil surrounding India-Pakistan cricket and their rivalry. The PCB recently threatened to withdraw from the World Cup in India if Pakistan could not host the Asia Cup in 2023. A hybrid model was adopted, with Pakistan hosting four matches and the remaining nine held in Sri Lanka.
In addition to Hafeez, former Pakistan cricketers Younis Khan, Mohsin Hassan Khan, and Saleem Yousaf are also being considered for important positions within the PCB.
