Report: BCCI To Hold Meeting For IPL Team Owners On April 16, This Is The Surprising Reason

The BCCI will hold a meeting with IPL team owners in Ahmedabad on April 16, which is the same day as the match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals.

As per a report on Cricbuzz, IPL CEO Hemang Amin has invited all 10 franchise owners to attend the meeting along with their respective CEOs.

The meeting’s agenda has not been specified, but several topics may be discussed, including the details of the next IPL mega auction, scheduled to take place before the 18th season of the league.

BCCI President Roger Binny, Board Secretary Jay Shah, and IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal will also be present at the meeting.

“They will discuss the way forward for the IPL,” the publication quoted a source as saying.

One of the topics that might be talked about is player retention, with some team owners suggesting that the number should be raised significantly to keep consistency, enhance their brand image, and grow their fan base. However, there are opposing views among teams regarding this proposal.

“We will have the mega auction for sure, where you get to choose three players and then you have a new team. That makes it more interesting and that format will continue,” Dhumal told Sportstar.

“Hopefully, the mega auction will be as big and as good as we have had earlier given newer talents coming in not from India and other countries. Teams like Afghanistan have also benefitted as they could showcase their talent, he concluded.”
