In the sixth match of Indian Premier League 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the Punjab Kings by four wickets in a thriller played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. While chasing the target of 176 runs set by Punjab, RCB chased it down in 19.2 overs, thanks to the stellar performance by Virat Kohli.
In this match against Punjab Kings, Kohli played an innings of 77 runs in 49 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes. It was Virat Kohli’s 100th fifty-plus score in T20 cricket and he is the first Indian batter to do so.
With this Kohli has also become the third player to achieve this milestone in T20 cricket, alongside Chris Gayle and David Warner. Kohli’s innings comprised 8 boundaries and one six, as he exerted pressure on the PBKS bowlers early on with his exquisite strokes. This marked Kohli’s 51st IPL fifty in his illustrious IPL career along with 7 centuries.
Kohli has also got a century in T20 cricket against Afghanistan in 2022. The other Indian batter other than Kohli is Rohit Sharma having amassed 81 fifty-plus scores. Gayle leads the list with 110 fifty-plus scores. The second in the list is David Warner with 109 fifty-plus scores.
