India has clinched an outstanding victory against Australia in the first test of the four-match test series under Border- Gavaskar trophy played in Nagpur. The Rohit Sharma team beat Australia by innings and 132 runs to take a lead of 1-0. Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin did not let the Australian batters settle down on the crease and grabbed a victory on the 3rd day itself.
However, in between this victory and debate over the Nagpur pitch, Australian spin veteran Nathan Lyon has achieved a unique milestone that is perhaps not even done by great spinners like Muttiah Murlitharan and the late Shane Warne.
On February 11, the 35-year-old cricketer completed over 30,000 deliveries in Test matches without overstepping even for a single time. Notably, he played in 115 matches for Australia in the longest version of the game after making his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2011.
It is a remarkable accomplishment and further shows Lyon’s consistency as a spinner that he has played more than 100 Test matches without ever overstepping. The famous statistician from Pakistan Mazher Arshad shared this unique record by tweeting on his official Twitter handle.
