Record Alert: Kane Williamson Equals Massive Record Of Sehwag, Ricky Ponting With 215-run Knock Against Sri Lanka

New Zealand and Sri Lanka are facing each other in the second Test at Wellington. Kiwi captain Kane Williamson scored a fantastic double hundred and before getting out he got 215 runs with the help of 23 fours and two sixes.

On Saturday, March 18, Williamson scored his sixth double-century in Test cricket. He achieved this feat during the second match of a two-game Test series against Sri Lanka, which is currently taking place at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

Williamson has now scored the same number of double-centuries in Test cricket as Marvan Atapattu, Virender Sehwag, Javed Miandad, Younis Khan, Ricky Ponting, and Javed Miandad. All these players mentioned above have 6 double tons to their name. The record for the most double centuries in Test cricket is held by the legendary Don Bradman, who achieved this feat 12 times in his career and has played only 52 matches.

During this innings, Kane Williamson had a partnership of 363 runs with Henry Nicholls, who also scored a double century in the match. This is the second-highest partnership for New Zealand in Test cricket. New Zealand declared their inning at 580-4 where Henry Nicholls also scored 200 runs.

New Zealand won the first match of the series by 2 wickets on the last ball and kicked Sri Lanka from the finalist race of the ICC Test Championship.
