During the recent trials held at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, which were part of the preparation for the IPL 2026 auction, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who are the defending champions, showed interest in the 24-year-old Ravi Singh.
The IPL 2026 auction is set to take place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. The competition from all 10 franchises will be on to fill the 77 vacant slots from 350 shortlisted players, which will be including 240 Indians and 110 overseas. From this group, 224 uncapped Indian players and 14 uncapped overseas stars will be available.
Ravi Singh Impresses RCB Think-Tank Ahead of IPL 2026 Auction
At the end of the group stage of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025, RCB had a two-day trials camp for 15 players including Karan Lal, Navdeep Saini, and Rahil Tripathi. The first day the players went through match simulations in open nets, and on the second day, they played a practice match. According to the Sportskeeda report, the left-hand batsman Ravi Singh impressed RCB with his power-hitting and glove work during the trials.
The left-handed batsman has made a phenomenal start in his domestic career, scoring 218 runs at a remarkable average of 36.33 and strike rate of 173.01, besides hitting 16 fours and 17 sixes, all indicating his ability to take control over the T20 bowling attacks as a left-handed keeper-batter. This domestic form is a part of his strong overall record of 295 runs in 10 matches at 42.14 average and 174.55 strike rate, including two half-centuries. In List A cricket, he has managed to score 109 runs in four games at an average of 36.33 and a strike rate of 121.11.
Nevertheless, after the Uttar Pradesh Premier League 2025, where he scored 208 runs in ten matches at a strike rate of 161.24, Ravi Singh’s aggressive batting style was again emphasized and thus getting into the limelight.
Who Will Ravi Singh Replace in RCB Lineup?
Chosen in the IPL 2026 auction, the UWK2 set of uncapped wicketkeepers with a base price of 30 lakhs, Ravi brings a vibrant left-hand option behind the stumps to support the regular stumper Jitesh Sharma or the top-order batsman Devdutt Padikkal. His high strike rate and hitting-for-boundary capability fit in with RCB’s newly taken ultra-aggressive approach. Dinesh Karthik, the RCB batting coach and mentor, being at the trials venue and marking his excellent influence over other prospects—goal scoring, especially in power-hitting—might mean RCB will make a bid at the IPL 2026 auction.
Besides the Royal Challengers Bangalore, other teams such as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have let go of all their wicket-keepers, and Mumbai Indians (MI), who are looking for a replacement for another uncapped wicketkeeper-batter, Robin Minz, are also in the picture. Thus, Ravi Singh can be assured of a short bidding war among different franchises for his services.
