Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has predicted the winner of the ICC World Test Championship set to be held between India and Australia. He is confident that the current Indian squad has all the necessary skills to emerge victorious in the upcoming World Test Championship final against Australia. If India wins, it would be the first ICC trophy for India in the last 10 years. Shastri believed that team India will play aggressive cricket against Aussies in this one-off Test match.
Despite Australia being considered the favourites by many former cricketers and experts, Ravi Shastri said that in the summit clash of the World Test Championship starting on June 7, a single poor performance by Australia would cost them a lot. He suggests that the outcome of the match is uncertain, and even the favourites can face setbacks due to one bad day on the field.
According to Hindustan Times, Shastri quoted,”You have to compete. Sometimes, you need a little bit of luck going your way as well. I won’t say we didn’t play good cricket. We have played very good cricket. The rub of green hasn’t quite gone their way. I always say this team is good enough to win an ICC trophy. When I was there, I used to say the same thing… especially in the last 3-4 years, I thought the team was good enough to win an ICC trophy. Those players are still there.”
Everyone’s saying Australia are clear favourites because we are playing in England. But it’s a one-off Test, just one bad day can ruin your chances. Australia also need to be very careful,” he further added.

Shastri also talked about the team composition and believed that it would be announced a day before the match.Shastri suggests that if India opts to play with four seamers, then Ishan Kishan is likely to be included in the playing XI. However, if the team decides on a different combination, then KS Bharat should be given the opportunity.
