Rashid Khan, the ace spinner of Gujarat Titans, took the first hat-trick of 2023 in the 16th season of IPL. He achieved this record on Sunday in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Rashid took wickets in the first three balls of the 17th over of the innings. He showed the way to the pavilion to Andre Russell on the first ball, Sunil Narine on the second and Shardul Thakur on the third.
Chasing Gujarat’s target of 204 runs, Kolkata scored 176 for 7 wickets in 19 overs. 29 runs were needed in the last over. Rinku Singh was 18 off 16 balls, while Umesh Yadav was at the crease after scoring 4 runs off 5 balls. Gujarat captain Rashid handed the ball to Yash Dayal for the last over. Umesh took a single on the first ball and gave the strike to Rinku. Rinku again gave victory to Kolkata by hitting 5 consecutive sixes. He scored an unbeaten 48 off 21 balls. When he hit six of the last ball teammates, coaches, and support staff hugged Rinku and enjoyed victory with him.
