Rahul Dravid drops a bombshell on team India’s playing combination ahead of India’s clash against Afghanistan

India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, suggested that wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav might be chosen to play in the T20 World Cup games in the Caribbean, beginning with the match against Afghanistan in the Super 8 stage. India didn’t use Kuldeep or Yuzvendra Chahal in the USA part of the tournament because the pitches there were better for fast bowlers. But the Caribbean has different conditions, and wrist spinners have shown they can do well there, like Adam Zampa has.

India might replace a fast bowler with Kuldeep in the team.

“It was really hard to not include Kuldeep, who has been India’s best spinner in the last year, in the team for the USA matches. “It’s difficult to leave anyone out. Honestly, all the four players we didn’t pick for those games are really good. We chose the specific combination based on the conditions and what we thought was needed at that venue. We felt that spin wasn’t very important and the conditions favored fast bowling more.”

“We also wanted to make sure we had enough skilled players for those difficult situations. That’s why we prepared this way. Things could be different here. I won’t say too much, but it might be a bit different. You might need an additional spin bowler, and then someone like Kuldeep or Yuzi could be very useful. They could really help us,” Dravid explained before the game against Afghanistan.

Team India will play against Afghanistan on June 20 in Barbados.
