Nishant Pitti, co-founder of EaseMyTrip, has stated that the company will not be involved with the India versus Pakistan semi-final in the World Championship of Legends (WCL). The earlier group match between these teams was dropped because several Indian players chose to skip it.
Given the political situation between India and Pakistan, there are doubts about whether the semi-final will even happen. But Pitti has made it clear that EaseMyTrip, as a sponsor, will not participate because they believe terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand.
Pitti posted, We commend Team India @India_Champions for their great showing in the World Championship of Legends. You’ve made the country proud. The semi-final against Pakistan is more than just a game. @EaseMyTrip stands with India, as terror and cricket cannot mix. We cannot back any event that tries to make things normal with a country that supports terrorism. The people of India have spoken, and we hear them.
The social media post added, EaseMyTrip will not be linked to the India vs. Pakistan match in WCL. Some values are more important than sports. The nation comes first, then business.
In other news, ex-cricketer Manoj Tiwary said Tuesday that he opposes the planned match between India and Pakistan during the 2025 Asia Cup, which starts in September.
His comments came after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) shared that the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9 to 28, with the big India-Pakistan game set for September 14.
Tiwary told ANI, I am against it. The India-Pakistan match should not be played, especially after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam where civilians were killed. Since then, Operation Sindoor has taken place.
The Asia Cup’s Group A includes India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B consists of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
